Uploading a CSV File

You can upload a CSV file from any bank, specify the format of the CSV and then save the format for future use.

1. Navigate to the ‘Transaction Accounts’ page manage-accounts-menu
2. Select a CSV file within the ‘Upload’ tab of your Transaction Account upload-csv-box
3. The format selection drop-down will appear – initially the only option will be to choose ‘Specify Format’. If you already have a format set up, you are able to select this to process the selected file with. csv-dropdown
4. Click ‘Upload file’

Specifying Your CSV Format

1. CSV Name – if you enter a name here, the format will be saved so you can select it from the format selection drop-down for future uploads. csv-format-name-box
2. CSV Columns – this shows a sample of rows from your uploaded file, so you can specify what each of the columns in the file represents – e.g. the date, amount, description etc csv-sample-columns
3. Specify what each column in your file is – at minimum a date, description and amount column is required.

  1. Date – choose the column that represents the date, in any format

  2. Description – you can select one or more columns which represents the description / payee for each transaction

  3. Amount – select a column that represents the amount of your transactions. These could be in a number of different formats, as per the following:

    • Select ‘Amount’ if all of the amounts are in one column

    • Select an ‘Amount Type’ column if all amounts are positive numbers. This should appear as a column with values such as ‘Debit’, ‘Credit’, ‘D’, ‘C’ etc

    • Select ‘Income’ (credit) and ‘Expense’ (debit) columns if your incomes and expenses are in separate columns

4. Click ‘Set and Complete Upload’ to upload the CSV file, and save the format if you have entered a name for the CSV in step 1. complete-csv-upload
